Olander's Realistic Systems emphasizes that these are realistic....common sense.....real world implementation for our fantasy adventures and GM_ODA would tend to agree. Even better, these allowed for partial implementation, and numerous designer-selected options. All in all a VERY WELL DONE package.

CAMPAIGN SPECIFICS ...

Additional details regarding the actual options used in certain of the script systems listed above are detailed via links in this paragraph and the above list. Survival itself is the subject of a set of script systems, notably the HTF System, the Camping and Resting System, the Realistic Harvestable Wood and Ore System, and the Fishing System (the Designer has augmented these script sets with HERB-DISTRIBUTION/HUNTING/GATHERING scripts too).

THE ARMOR REALITY SYSTEM Wearing Armor is all about staying alive longer... AD&dD made an error when it applied Armor Class to armor. Armor DOES NOT make you more difficult to hit... it actually makes you easier to hit. Armor is simply various materials assembled together to make a protective barrier between the Body and the Weapon trying to damage it. The materials are based upon tensile strength to 3 different damage types...bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing. Each material resists each damage type differently and thus must be treated as such. A Damage Resistance system has been implemented to account for this. Each level in Damage Resistance is 5/- to Bludgeoning, Piercing, or Slashing damage types. Each class of armor has different resistances to each of these damage types. For example Full Plate is naturally resistant to all 3 where as Leather is only resistant to Bludgeoning. This type of system makes Armor more realistic in function. Bracers, Shields etc still have AC as their base because they really do make a person harder to hit. Only Armor is functionally modified.
